Roman Mausoleum of La Torrecilla

On the outskirts of Corella, the crypt of a Late Roman mausoleum from the 4th-5th centuries AD is preserved, associated with a Roman villa. The site came to light in 1995 after a chance discovery and was excavated as an emergency intervention, documenting a polylobed chamber with four burials and six exposed-brick exedras around two metres in diameter. The archaeological area was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest in 1999.

Interpretive panels explain the relationship between the complex and the ancient Roman road of the Ebro, highlighting the symbolic and landscape value of these funerary monuments beside the routes. Access is easy, and the agricultural surroundings help visitors understand the historical continuity of settlement in La Ribera.
