Stars were once a subject of study and contemplation, and in the future, they may well become our destination as a species. This type of pollution is caused by the use of poorly designed luminaires, which direct light upwards instead of downwards (where it is actually needed), as well as excessive power and use at inappropriate times.

The consequences of this lighting range from the waste of energy and money, to the glare experienced by drivers or the polluting effects caused by toxic residues from used lamps; in addition to the well-known loss of visibility of the night sky.

Fortunately, lower-consumption and higher-efficiency lamps are the least polluting, so the general trend is to progressively replace them.

Thus, little by little, the DARK SKY will be recovered.
