Monte Gurugú Monumental Ensemble
A singular ensemble promoted in the mid-20th century by parish priest Ambrosio Eransus, based on the local Calvary tradition documented in 1778. It brings together three elements: the wrought-iron Way of the Cross, whose design is attributed to the Reus-born sculptor Nicolás Ortiz Serra, with fourteen stations spread over 1.6 km; the monument to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the summit; and the hermitage of the Virgen de Portegado. The symbolism of each station turns the ascent into an artistic and devotional experience. From the top, the viewpoint offers broad night and daytime views of the valley and visually connects with the Peñalén area.
