Church of Saint Bartholomew

Marcilla’s main church, neoclassical in style and sober in appearance, was built in the late 18th century over an earlier church. The brick tower crowns the town skyline, while the interior preserves Baroque altarpieces from the 17th and 18th centuries and Renaissance images, including a Virgin and Child and a 16th-century Crucified Christ. The stained-glass window dedicated to the Virgen del Plú presides over the oculus above the entrance porch and symbolically links the church with the hermitage. The church stands in the heart of the town centre and opens during worship times.
