Celebración del VI Centenario de la Construcción del Castillo de Marcilla

This weekend, 22nd and 23rd May, Marcilla will celebrate the VI Centenary of the construction of the Castle. The event will be packed with a wide variety of events.

On Saturday, the local bagpipers will be playing in the streets of the town from 9.00 am and the A.C. Banda Joven de Marcilla will do the same at 11.30 am. These two groups will be joined by the dantzaris who, together with the pipers, will take part in the reception of the authorities and perform several pieces.

At midday there will be a brief visit to the fortress, followed by the official ceremony in the assembly hall, in which different personalities will take part, including the participation of Emilio Garrrido from Marcilla, who will give a short talk on "The Castle of Marcilla, 200 years at the political and economic peak of the Kingdom of Navarre".

At the same time, the Lume de Biqueira Pipe Band will offer a parade and a concert in the Plaza de la Cava square and at 19.00 the castle parapet will host the exhibition "Siege warfare in the Middle Ages". This is an exhibition of the main machines used during the medieval period for the siege of fortresses.

The day will be closed by the group "The 3 tenors in concert", three lyrical singers, who will pay tribute to Luciano Pavarotti, José Carrera and Plácido Domingo.

The events will continue on Sunday at 7 p.m. with the show "Gala Cabaret" by Baraka Circ, in the sports pavilion. And finally, at 8.30 p.m. the municipal music band will perform.
