Cultural Space «La Capilla»

The former hermitage of San Miguel, a short walk from the Tinglao square, was reborn in 2012 as the «La Capilla» Cultural Space. The rehabilitation preserved the historic nave and equipped the building with exhibition lighting and air conditioning, transforming it into a flexible venue for art exhibitions, photography, conferences, and small concerts. Since its reopening, the space has maintained a vibrant program that connects with the community and with those who come to Arguedas drawn by Bardenas.

For the cultural visitor, «La Capilla» offers two attractions. First, the architecture: a sober Renaissance nave with a polygonal apse and an interior perfect for interior photography. Second, the schedule: local projects—such as exhibitions by Bardener artists—coexist with proposals that broaden the perspective on the territory (nature, memory, traditions). On hot days, its cool interior also provides a welcome respite between walks through the town center and excursions.

Its location, next to a singular tree that has served as a school meeting point for decades, reinforces the endearing character of the site. If you are visiting with family, look for workshops or participatory activities; if you are traveling as a couple, it is an ideal place for a quiet visit before heading up to the viewpoint of the caves or before watching the sunset at El Yugo.

Visit tip: check with the Town Hall or the municipal website for the current exhibition; many are temporary and change throughout the year.
