Discover Arguedas
Arguedas is best known as a natural gateway to the Bardenas Reales Natural Park, but it also offers attractions of its own that make it worth a slower visit beyond simply passing through on the way to the Bardenas desert. Its 66 km² municipal area brings together contrasting landscapes: to the south, the Ebro floodplains with rice fields that attract migratory birds; to the north, the rugged Sierra del Yugo; and to the southwest, access to one of Europeās most spectacular steppe ecosystems. Its architectural heritage includes the distinctive Caves of Arguedas, dwellings excavated in limestone rock and inhabited until 1965, now being restored as a cultural space; the remains of the medieval castle at the Balconico de los Moros; and buildings such as the Church of San Esteban, the Town Hall and the hermitages of El Yugo and San Miguel. The nearby Sendaviva theme park and the network of local trails complete an offer especially suited to nature, family and inland tourism.
