Badina Escudera

Badina Escudera is a protected wetland (ZEC and Natural Enclave) composed of four lagoons located on both sides of the AP-15, between the left bank of the Aragón River and the Bardenas. Endorheic and with shallow waters (1–2 m), it hosts reed beds, sedge beds, and aquatic meadows featuring one of the largest communities of Ruppia maritima in the Mediterranean wetlands of Navarre. It is a habitat for the European pond turtle and a breeding, wintering, and stopover point for numerous bird species (herons, marsh harriers, waterfowl), making it an outstanding site for wildlife observation.
