Interpretation: Mouth of the Arga River in the Aragón River
We are at the confluence of the two rivers, with wonderful views of the Barranco de Peñalen, considered one of the 10 natural wonders of Navarra and a historical place where Ramón Garcés "el Fratricida" threw his brother King Sancho Garcés IV of Navarre the Noble by the Barranco in an act of conspiracy of the Navarrese nobility in the year 1076.
The final section of these two rivers is included within the Special Conservation Area (ZEC) Lower Sections of the Arga and Aragón. The characteristics of the route, with the presence of rock formations, free waters, beaches and groves, allow nesting, refuge /or feeding of birds such as the white stork, gray herons, little grebes, common martins or the black kite and even threatened rock-dwelling birds such as the Egyptian vulture or the golden eagle.
On the other bank of the River Arga, we can find the "Camino Verde de la Ribera Alta" that joins the towns of Marcilla, Peralta, Funes and Falces, also following the banks of the two rivers. A cyclable route of about 40 km that allows direct contact with nature and river environments
