The Magdalena Church (Tudela)

Next to the Ebro we find the Church of Santa María Magdalena. The building was built in the 12th century, probably over a primitive Mozarabic temple and by hands related to the cathedral. It is crowned by a slender Romanesque tower.

The church of Santa María Magdalena, declared an Asset of Cultural Interest, overlooks the mighty river Ebro. The Romanesque tower, with its rigorous and sober design, turns orange at sunset, and its shadow, cast on the water, highlights its elegance and fragments its firmness.

On the façade, we find stone carvings depicting scenes from the New Testament, interspersed with mythological animals, plant ornaments and everyday trades. The golden tones of twilight are reflected in the main altarpiece, decorated in gold and presided over by Mary Magdalene.
