Marqués de Huarte Palace (Tudela)

Although the Palace of the Gomara family dates back to the 15th century, only its 18th century Baroque façade and two of the four graceful towers, which together with the solana and the central courtyard with slender columns, constitute an architectural monument, remain today.

The palace of the Marquis of Huarte de Tudela is a seductive Baroque building. Eighteenth-century tastes make an impact with the decorative profusion of its main façade and with the constructive exuberance of its interior courtyard and its imperial staircase, the most beautiful in Navarre.

The main façade of the palace is located on Calle Mercadal. Go up to it to contemplate the exuberant decoration of figures and plant motifs that surrounds the windows and balconies. In order to fresco the wall, the surface had to be covered with successive layers of plaster. The secondary façade, today the entrance to the building, faces onto Calle Herrerías and is made of brick, with a much more sober appearance.
